Cloud / VPS Options for Australia

Hey guys,

Hopefully this is an acceptable place to ask this, I figured there should be plenty of people here who know about this stuff.

Am currently looking for a Linux VPS or cloud option for hosting a website that will have to handle some fair traffic spikes during television commercials that direct users to the product. Ideally in Australia if that's possible. I don't know a lot about good scalable hosting solutions like this and am not sure what the gotcha's are to look out for.
