Risky Business #186 -- Chip and PIN, consumer devices in the enterprise and more!
This week's show is jam-packed! We'll be chatting with Andrea Barisani about a presentation he did with Daniele Bianco at CanSecWest this week. They're both from Inversepath, and the title of their talk was "Chip and PIN is definitely broken". Is it? Find out after the news.
Also this week we chat with CSO Adam Pointon. What can you do when your executives want to use their iPad or other mobile device on your network? Is it possible to create a security policy for consumer devices on your network? Well, yeah, it is, as it turns out.
What about another chip and pin standard? Using magstripe in this day and age is nuts, and I'd bet that the current fraud losses inflicted on merchants would justify a rollout of new terminals.
We've got chip and pin in .au now, too... it's pretty much universal...

Us Yanks are hesitent to move to EMV until the technology is proven.
Not to mention that brand mandates to move to 3des killed any possiblity of moving to emv anytime soon, mostly due to the cost. If us Yanks were to move to EMV at this point in time in history would further cause the world to drive deeper into a recession, the cost of replacing infrastructure and reissuance of cards would be EXTREMELY costly.
